| http://news.yahoo.com/s/pcworld/20070208/tc_pcworld/128813;_ylt=Ap1069jPLshUDP_3TfAEDTvMWM0F This PC World article talks about research from Rochester University, and concludes that playing 1st person shooters can actually improve visual acuity. While at was Vanderbilt, I played Unreal Tournament, which is the evident cause of my acuity. However, they didn't do research on the acuity negation when staring at the comp screen for 8 hours straight during work, which is what I do. This research will have a negative impact on kids' study hours. "Mommy, I have to catch up on my visual acuity. It's lacking!! Get back to the homework in two hours!" That, and they have to keep it up for long-term effects.

| A few months ago, I saw in the news that a Japanese team won the Italian pizza-making competition. (which took place in Italy, can you believe it) As I am now in Beijing, people here are always saying that Americans, or rather foreigners are beating the Chinese at their own game: bartering. And another example of one country losing its edge is China back in teh day with gunpowder. China invented gunpowder, but westerners took advantage of its potency with actually implementing it into guns. I think that countries, or people in general, cannot be too cocky, for if you were once the best at a given game, if you don't continuously innovate, you'll eventually lose out .
In Beijing, and I believe China as a whole, people spit randomly: pedestrians walking on the street, taxi drivers, etc. Beiing in China, you have to have fast reflexes, lest you risk being a random target, like the time I was in Vanderbilt and was urinated on by a tree-swinging squirrel. Bad example, but you get the point. Basically , there are two main types of loogies, which can both be described pretty well by one type of gun in Unreal Tournament: the Flak Cannon, which was my fav type of gun in UT back in the day. The primary fire shoots out in one concise ball, while the alternate fire spreads out into a pretty big area. I wonder though, with the never-ending spitting, where all this spit comes from?

| I was reading through Yahoo news, and came upon this article from Reuters Life titled "Love is. . .a pair of really good jeans." "The average woman between 18 and 54 years of age has hung
on to her favorite article of clothing for 12 and a half years,
a year longer than she's held on to her longest relationship." C'mon, you don't have to have taken advanced statistics in college or even AP Stats to know that hopefully, just hopefully, 18 year olds don't start dating at the age of 5/12. .i mean, on the average, I'm sure the global age has dropped drastically as people generally get more liberal, but I sure hope that people never start dating at the age of 5. C'mon. .you don't really know your times tables yet, and then you start dating. That's like saying you learn to drive before you learn to ride a bike. I have to say, the statistic is pretty darn skewed. I think if they change the range for the age to say 18 to 72 year olds, the jeans won't matter much. . .hopefully, unless the marriage age average increases pretty darn fast.

| I just read an article on cnn money. The title reads, "Wal-Mart sells 'Brokeback' despite protest. Basically, The American FamilyAssociation accused Wal-Mart of "abandoning its "family-friendly" corporate image by selling the film." I mean, isn't it quite ridiculous to boycott a movie based on your values. I mean, isn't that denying freedom of speech, thoughts, etc. It's like saying, I'm whatever ethnicity, get the heck out of my face because you're unlike me. Basically, my thoughts on that is, if you don't like it, don't watch it. I feel quite uneasy around gay people too, but I'm not lambasting them because they watch two actors kissing in an oscar hollywood flick. Plus, obviously, as evil as Walmart seems to many, that's what they're trying to do . . make money off of things they think are profitable.
"It wasn't even a blockbuster movie, so if Wal-Mart isn't trying to push an agenda, why would they put it at the front door?" said the American Family Association executive Randy
Sure, it wasn't a box-office hit. Are they saying that if more and more gays are born each day, and one day a gay box-office hit is born, that's ok?I mean, I'm not gay, and i haven't watched the movie, but i'm sure some heterosexuals have watched the movie and thought it was good. Unless the oscar panel was pretty blatantly fruit-by-the-loop (i remembered the cereal name correctly, right?).
but back to my prior entry, they were definitely musically on crack.
I'm not saying that being gay is right, and I'm not trying to offend any Christians. But I just think that the association has gone overboard. . | | |
| It's pretty interesting how many genres of music borrow or "steal" themes from Classical musicm, since there are no patents pending in that matter. . like that taiwanese singer Cyndi, and various k-pop, t-pop, korean rap, and american rap. I guess in many ways, Classical music is the essence of music. Before any other genres of music, Classical existed. You say you dislike Classical music? Think again. | | |
